Custom Residential Entrance

March 14, 2017

It doesn’t get much more “custom” than this. Oak and glass inner doors. Heavy teak outer doors with hand-made colored glass inserts. Hand-forged bronze hardware inside and out. Lighting in the ceiling panel between the inner and outer doors. Plus a lot more.

Back Bay Library Room

March 14, 2017

Designed as a home office, this is the most highly-detailed project we have done to date. Accurate classical proportioning. Richly-grained mahogany. When people enter this room their jaws drop. And yes, I know that I need to get more/better photos.

Beacon Hill Library Room

March 14, 2017

Other than the plaster ceiling and the flooring, this entire room was created by our team. From the meticulous neo-classical design based on 18th century pattern books, to the eight-step furniture-grade lacquer finish. We had custom cutters made for every molding profile. We layed up the four-piece-match crotch mahogany panels from sequence-cut veneers. We sourced hand-made glass from eastern Europe for the cabinet doors. The capitals and other carvings come from a century-old supplier in Chicago. The end result seems more like a well-preserved antique room.

Colonial Theater Entrance

March 15, 2017

Redesigned and rebuilt. The original doors from the 1920’s were falling apart. Plus they really did not promote good traffic flow. So, we started from scratch. Larger-scale doors. Tempered, insulating glass. FSC certified mahogany. Bronze hardware. Handicap accessibility. We don’t do a lot of commercial/institutional work, but when we do we do it right.

A small private library room. A personal retreat. Interpreting classical design principles for this small oddly-shaped space was quite a challenge.
